Topic - What happened to MPLAYER?

I was just searching for audio video software that MPLAYER used to to use on their site for chatrooms. I stopped going to Mplayer when they started charging money for services that were free. I cant believe MPLAYER as I knew it is gone. They should have become leaders in the gaming, and chat industry. Anyone know where I can get that Audio Video Chat software. It should be big by now, they were using it at leats 10 years ago.

Me too! I was on mplayer far to much, that must be years back now!
<br/>I stopped using it when gamespy bought em out and ruined everything, I think thats the only audio/video chat system ive ever enjoyed using, I felt robbed when it went down, but i spose it was probably a good thing for my social life at least lol.

mplayer was fantastic....I wish it was still around. Can't find anything like it, everythings gone pay, spy and spam or am I missing a place I don't know about?

What happened to Mplayer is that it was looted by it's management and board of directors. It's the American way. And when I say looted I mean looted. Brilliant really. Too bad the investors all got screwed.

LOL, you said it best - "I felt robbed." I think we all did. I remember the very last days on Mplayer - I was addicted to Hearts big time. I played Spades too, but my addiction was far more in Hearts. Those last days I played my heart out, typed my fingers to the bone and clicked away until I killed my mouse - because if Mplayer was closing - damn it, I was going to get a Queen under all my names. Ya know, I did. And oddly, it was like New Year's Eve to me. I even took a picture of it - and I still have it today - my name on the list in the lobby, with a Queen icon and some chat in the lobby. I really miss it - I always have. It was a horrible addiction for everyone - we all began spending way too much time there. Some were addicted to lobby chat and gossip, but many to the games. When it closed, I do admit that I was able to get back to life a bit more lol. But I'll tell ya - in all these years - and on all the games sites I play or played - I never had a chance to play hearts that way again - Mplayer had its own flavor - and it's a flavor that can't ever be made by anyone else. It was what it was supposed to be - a game site, with pagers, and private, mics and sounds - easy on the eyes, non-complicated site - plain and simple, and that's what made it work so well. All theses sites out there today - with all the features and new technology that they have - still can't hold a candle to Mplayer. I miss a lot - we were robbed! I never went to gamespy either, it just wasn't the same.

I know what happened to it, but all these years later, I still miss a lot! I've been trying to find some kind of forum online for years .... that the old mplayer players contact each other on. Seeme/Hearme ruined it - then we moved over to Mplayer-Europe and Mplayer-Arabia - and then gamespy sucked them up and spit them out. I never bothered with gamespy - so I've been jonezing for mplayer all these years.
